Does your child listen to audiobooks?

Many parents ask me what they can do at home to help their child with reading.

My best secret is for their child to listen to audiobooks.

Children with dyslexia run the risk of having a low vocabulary in how they speak and what they understand because they are not able to read books at their grade level.

To rectify this and increase their vocabulary skills, they should be listening to books with a wealth of vocabulary in them. Click on the link below to see a list of my favorites.

Listening to audiobooks exposes a student to a wider range of words and their proper pronunciations. When a student knows how a word is pronounced then, as they are trying to read words on paper, they will have an easier time recognizing the words if they already know the word orally.

Happy Listening!
