Reading and Spelling System . . .

The Barton Reading and Spelling System is an Orton-Gillingham influenced while simultaneously using a multi-sensory explicit and systematic phonics program. It is a well known system that is used by many schools, teachers, tutors, and parents throughout America. This system was written by Susan Barton, who is recognized internationally as an expert in dyslexia, and is in the Hall of Honor at the headquarters of the International Dyslexia Association.

This book is a great read in general, but especially for those who have someone in their life that is dyslexic because this gives a great insight on life as a dyslexic.

Overcoming dyslexia is a book that teaches you the science behind dyslexia and gives you a program to help your child read. The author, Sally Shaywitz, is a M.D. at Yale University. Shaywitz gives you the history, the science, and the tools to help you diagnose if your child has dyslexia. Shaywitz also helps adults with dyslexia throughout this book. This book can help any dyslexic at any reading level.
